How to design the micro brewery floor plan?

Designing an efficient microbrewery floor plan is essential to optimizing operations, ensuring safety, and enhancing the customer experience. Here are the steps and considerations in more detail:

1.Brewing Area:

Brewing Area: This is where the magic begins. Make sure there is enough space for the micro brewery equipment ,the brewhouse normally including mash tun, brew kettle, lauter tank, whirlpool tank, need the steam generator for heating,we need to make a plan for the brewhouse area, malt storage area.

Fermentation Tanks: Place the fermentation tanks close to the brewhouse for easy transfer of wort.this depend on how many beer fermenter and bright beer tank to calculate the size of the fermentation area

Hot Water Tanks: Place them so they can be easily accessed to the brewhouse and cleaned.

Cooling system:Including glycol water tank and chiller, chiller will be better to placed outside.

CIP:For the bigger micro brewery equipment need the CIP for the tank cleaning.

2. Beer Basement:

Cold Storage: Allocate space for raw materials that require refrigeration like hops and yeast.

Filling/Bottling/Canning: Designate areas for packaging finished products and make sure they are close to cold storage.

Cold Room:For storing finished beer. Place near the packaging area to make sure it is easy to dispense or serve.

3.Bar/Brewpub:

If you plan to serve on-site, create a welcoming space with a clear path from the cold room to the bar to maintain efficiency.

4.Offices/Utilities:

Keep administrative and utility areas separate but accessible to employees and have storage for cleaning supplies and equipment.

5.Plan the Brewery Process

Plan each step from raw materials to sales, ensuring logical and efficient transitions between stages.

Consider raw material delivery and storage, beer brewing and fermentation proximity, and efficient ways to move product to packaging and storage.

6. Key Process Considerations:

Ventilation: Install vents to handle steam and odors, especially in brewhouse.

Water Supply: Design for high water usage with easy access to water lines for brewing and cleaning.

Power: Ensure adequate power supply, especially three-phase power for heavy brewing equipment.

Accessibility: Design entrances, exits, and restrooms to be accessible to all customers and employees.

Additional Considerations

Safety: Implement safety measures, including non-slip flooring, clear signage, and emergency exits.

Flexibility: Design the layout to accommodate future expansion or changes in production scale.

Aesthetics: In customer-facing areas, such as the taproom, consider design elements that reflect your brand and create a pleasant atmosphere.

By considering these factors, you can create a microbrewery floor plan that not only supports efficient and safe operations, but also enhances the overall experience for employees and customers.if you want to know how to set up the brewery and make a plan baisc on the micro brewery equipment for sale please contact me freely.
